This is an Government Organization under Technical Education Vocational & Industrial Training Department of Himachal Pradesh.
Introduction:
ITI Shahpur is one of the oldest I.T.I. situated in the State of Himachal Pradesh. It came into existence in 1962 when Kangra was the part of the Punjab State.This Institute was established in 1962 / 1963 by the then Chief Minister of Punjab S. Pratap Singh Kairon with 02 Trades having intake capacity of 36 seats. After successful functioning for 47 years, it has grown up to the status of well reputed model Industrial Training Institute of Northern India with 23 trades consisting of 28 units under C.T.S. (Craftsmen Training Scheme) and C. O. E. (Centre of Excellence) in Fabriction (Fitting & Welding) Sector with 06 (BBBT) units & 03 Units of Advance Modules for C.O.E.(Fabrication Fitting & Welding). Presently its intake capacity is of 697 seats in various Engineering & Non - Engineering Trades.
This Institute is upgraded for Centre Of Excellence (COE) for Fabrication (Fitting & Welding) in the year Sept. 2007 with six Modules of Broad Based Basic Training (BBBT), Three Advandvance Modules in Different Fields and also with a Specialised Module which is directly impart the Training in the Industries.
This Institute is running MES (Modular Employable Scheme) under SDI (Skill Development Initiative) under the guidance of Regional Directorate of Apprenticeship Training, Faridabad since 2008 in different Sectors like:
1. Automobile 2. Electrical 3. Electronics
4. Fabrication 5. Garment Making 6. Information & Communication Technology
7. Production & Manufacturing 8. Toy Making.
There are 51 Modules running under this scheme on part time / weekend basis.
LAND:
The institution has its own land having area 18 Acres (i.e. 72874.5 Sq Mtrs.) on National Highway-20 near 39 Miles Mile Stone situated near Shahpur, Distt. Kangra (H.P.) - 176206.
Accommodation:
The Institution is having Staff accommodation within the complex. 32 No. of Qtrs are availanble including TYPE-I=08 No., TYPE-II=21 No., TYPE-III=02 No. & TYPE-IV=01No.
Hostel :
Institute is having its own Hostel with Mess & Canteen Facility for 120 Male Trainees.
Workshop:
Workshops are having Modern Machinery & Equipment with Latest Facilities of Training. Multipurpose Hall for organising seminars / exihibitions / examinations is also available.
